A Brief Window Is Coming

Your chance for that fun and exciting dream job is coming up! When this shut-down ends - EVERY business that had to let people go will be hiring. You can likely move up to a better company or into an entirely new line of work. Many jobs that were once almost impossible to get will suddenly open up. The hiring equation will flip - instead of 50 applicants for five openings, it will be 50 openings for five applicants. Use this time to prepare. Polish up your resume, and make a strategic target list of where you would most like to work. Clean up your social media (yes, potential employers look), take some professional photos and present the image of a person working in the job you are seeking. In other words, be ready to move very fast when the doors open again. This is literally going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity! If you need some personal image advice - we're here.

Don't Do This!

With the current Coronavirus emergency, it has become painfully obvious which people and businesses are using auto-posting services for their social media. Many of the posts are very inappropriately timed, and clearly insensitive. Extremely bad PR. Not to mention, it is outing all the auto posters!

Show Biz

Musical Legend Johnny Cash, Nashville, Tennessee, 1994 . A legendary American singer-songwriter, guitarist, actor, and author, he is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 90 million records worldwide, and although primarily remembered as a country music icon, his genre-spanning songs and sound embraced rock and roll, rockabilly, blues, folk, and gospel, and this frequent crossover appeal won Cash the rare honor of being inducted into the Country Music, Rock and Roll, and Gospel Music Halls of Fame. He was known for his deep, calm bass-baritone voice, the distinctive sound of his Tennessee Three backing band, which is characterized by train-sound guitar rhythms, a rebelliousness coupled with an increasingly somber and humble demeanor.he passed away in 2003. . I flew all the way to Nashville Tennessee for a 30-minute magazine cover with Johnny Cash. We had to take a red-eye flight and rush to the location to get there between jobs. I quickly scouted a field outside his offices in Nashville, he did not want to go far. The highlight for me was when he grabbed my hand and said, “Hi Michael, I’m Johnny Cash!” That was just the way he did it on his TV special when I was a kid.

Keeping Your Representation

Everyone who has been in the industry for a while knows you can't get far without representation. However, getting representation and keeping it are two different things. The article at the link below will reveal some information you may never have been told. This is focused on the actor and talent agent relationship - but it is basically the same when working with a publicist, a speakers agent or a manager. Each are interested in clients who are participating, and who are very serious about building successful careers. That's because when the client is successful, they go along for the ride financially. It is a harsh reality, and nothing personal - but unprofitable clients get dropped. Note: Be sure to also watch the video at the bottom of the article.
